Entanet's New Ethernet First Mile Solution to Drive Business Efficiency in the West Midlands

22nd October 2007

Leading voice and data Communications Provider Entanet is taking steps to deliver innovative uncontended business connectivity solutions to organisations in the West Midlands.

As part of the upgrade of its national network in preparation for the rollout of BT's 21st Century Network, Entanet is working with a supplier of 'Ethernet First Mile' solutions to provide high speed, uncontended connectivity to businesses linked to exchanges in Birmingham and Wolverhampton.

Using multiple LLU copper lines from Openreach, the company will be able to provide Ethernet services at speeds of up to 100Mbps to businesses looking to reduce their Internet access costs and/or implement Wide Area Network solutions. This availability will complement the existing range of fibre-based Metro Ethernet solutions that Entanet currently provides on a national scale.

James Blessing, Entanet COO said: "Businesses whose operations are heavily dependent on reliable connectivity between central and regional offices, who need to run critical business applications such as Citrix, Terminal Services and Voice-over-IP, or simply require continuous and fast Internet access, uncontended connectivity solutions make commercial and technical common sense. By using multiple copper lines between the customer's network and our own backhaul network we can increase throughput and overcome the problems normally associated with distance-affected copper lines."
